California residents looking to enhance their careers or get some continuing education credits through online learning have an excellent opportunity to do so through the California Virtual Campus (CVC) program. The CVC offers online learning opportunities in the areas of medicine, law, and much more - all from the comfort of your own home. There are generally two options that you have with the CVC online learning curriculum; self-paced courses which means you can start at any point within the year, and fixed-date courses, which are a per-semester basis.

Self-paced online learning classes allow you to enroll at any time. You usually have to plan to dedicate a minimum amount of time to complete the coursework which allows your instructor to interact with you and provide any needed feedback. The positive aspect that many appreciate about this is that you have up to six months from your enrollment date to complete the course.

Fixed-date online learning courses have very specific start and finish dates, and allow you to complete a course in 8-12 weeks (depending on whether you want to take the standard amount of time to complete the course). The advantage to the fixed-date courses is that you may find that you have a more expansive list of class options.

One thing to keep in mind if you decide to go this online learning route is that the CVC campuses use the same admittance procedures that they do with the full time students. Your best bet is to decide which courses and programs look best for you and, from there, contact the enrollment office to find out how to apply and learn more about the fees involved. Some students are even able to use the online learning option to earn their degrees from many of the campuses that participate in CVC, although not entirely in an online-based format. It is still a great option for those who need to be able to do some of their coursework online. Each participating university is different, so it is best to check with them.

The online learning departments take learning as a serious matter, just as serious as any of their other learning programs, so expect the same level of quality in education as you would were you to attend the classes in person. You will have access to student services, technical support and dedicated faculty to help you achieve the best learning experience possible.
