Brigham Young University is a private university that is owned and operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). Established in 1875, it is the largest religious university in the United States. While you do not have to be an LDS Church member to attend BYU, approximately 98% of its student body are members, and all students, regardless of religion or background, must follow an honor code mandating, among other things, that they will dress and groom in a certain way, abstain from premarital sex, not drink and not do drugs.
